This is not a post about what happens when you have too much to drink. This is about the only analogy I could think of for some of the craziness of the NBA this week. It started on Sunday. The Knicks, who are beginning to come down to earth after all the Linsanity (I'm still getting the shirt only because it's awesome), lost to the Boston Celtics. The Celtics, who have been almost in a hungover state since Danny Ainge gave away Kendrick Perkins, used the momentum from that great win to..........go to Philadelphia and lose by 33 points? Wow. 2nd game of the Sunday doubleheader was the Lakers versus the Heat. The Lakers have been the epitome of inconsistency this year were playing against the team that is my pick to win it all. The Lakers got a vintage pre-Palace brawl, pre-name change performance from Metta World Peace (ok, Ron Artest). The Lakers won the game. They used this momentum to...........lose to the Pistons and Wizards back-to-back? Crazy. The Chicago Bulls beat the Milwaukee Bucks in a thriller Wednesday with a Derrick Rose buzzer beater (LeBron study the tape of this and write 100 times
I will take the shot) and used that momentum to.........lose to Dwight Howard and Public Announcement. For those of you who don't know who Public Announcement is, they were R-Kelly's backup group when he first came out. You probably said "who is Public Announcement?" That's what I say about every player not named Dwight Howard on the Magic: who? Then last night the Oklahoma City Thunder, who have been virtually unbeatable at home and had a week where they beat the Mavericks, who happened to knock them out of the playoffs last year, used the momentum from that win to.............. lose to the Cleveland Cavaliers? A lot of you guys don't watch WWE but there is a guy on there named Zack Ryder who has a shirt that on the back of it says "Are you serious, bro?" That's what I want to ask all of those teams. This is a season that can only be induced by a lockout. No practice time will lead to a lack of consistency. This is the reason the Heat and Thunder are my picks to go to the Finals because they have been the most consistent and have the star power to beat any team in the league. A lockout has a little bit more impact on basketball than football because in football you don't play back-to-backs, or in this season back-to-back-to-backs and have set practice times. That being said, I probably should hold off on predicting the NBA Finals because the last time the NBA had a lockout-impacted season the 8th-seeded New York Knicks made it to the NBA Finals. And the Knicks are 8th in the East as we speak. That's Linsane.
